Texas State police investigate apparent student suicide

The University Police Department is investigating the apparent suicide of a student whose body was found Monday morning on university property.

The body of David B. Edwards, a 23-year-old freshman from Kerrville, Texas, was found early Monday morning by his brother, James Edwards, a Texas State graduate student.

The two brothers lived together at an off-campus residence.Police were notified of the discovery at 4:26 a.m. by James Edwards and were dispatched to an abandoned building on the hillside above Spring Lake. A suicide note was found at the scene.

Editor’s note: Jeff Henderson was a long time faculty adviser and friend of The University Star. His death is being felt around the office by those who knew him. In the coming weeks we will have more on Jeff and his life, legacy and time at Texas State.

A memorial service for Jeff Henderson, retired professor of journalism and mass communication, will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the First Christian Church in San Marcos.

Henderson died Thursday at Austin Heart Hospital at the age of 67.
