SMFD invites the city to commemorate 9-11


The San Marcos Fire Department will host a 9-11 remembrance ceremony on Sunday, September 11 at the San Marcos City Hall.

Marking the 15th anniversary since the terrorist attack on the country, the SMFD is inviting the city to participate in a 15-20 minute program with an opening by Mayor Daniel Guerrero. The SMFD Honor Guard will raise the flag that flied over City Hall on the morning of September 11, 2011.

Following the flag raising will be renditions of the Pledge of Allegiance and a performance from the SMFD Bagpipers. Mayor Guerrero will close with a proclamation and a moment of silence. Flowers will be provided to place on the 9-11 Flower Memorial.

The event will begin at 8:45 a.m. at 630 East Hopkins Street, beside the Fire Bell at City Hall.
