The San Marcos Police Department have arrested a suspect for the homicide of a man found dead in his apartment this morning.

Police officers received a call around 8 a.m. Friday morning from a man saying he found his roommate dead in the Villagio Apartments at 1850 Aquarena Springs Drive.

Officers went to the apartment and found the body of 20-year-old Francisco Sierra in his bedroom with a gunshot wound to the head.

The man, Sierra’s roommate who originally called police, went with officers to the police department to be interviewed, along with several others present at the apartment. He confessed to shooting and killing Sierra, and disposing of the gun in a remote body of water.

The suspect has been charged with first-degree murder. Officers continue to search for the weapon.
