Cross country proves themselves at UIW Invitational

The Texas State cross country team found success in its last meet of the season before the Sun Belt Conference.

At the UIW Invitational on Saturday, the men’s team finished second overall with a score of 60, just below Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. The Bobcats’ teamwork was in full gear this weekend.

The top three Texas State runners each finished within the same minute. Leading the entire men’s side was sophomore runner Logan Pittdman. Pittdman finished the 8K race with a time of 24:21.7, landing him in first place.

Following close behind Pittdman was freshman Joseph Meade who placed eighth with a time of 24:47.7. Sophomore Jordan Janer (24:55.2) finished eight seconds after Meade.

Meanwhile, women’s side finished fourth place overall just above Incarnate Word, ending with 76 points.

Leading the team was the duo of freshman Devina Schneider and sophomore Nikki Sanchez. Schneider finished in fourth place with a time of 22:20.3. Coming in right behind her, Sanchez placed fifth with a time of 22:31.1.

After making an impression at this invitational, the Bobcats are preparing to compete Nov. 1 at the Sun Belt Conference Championships in Atlanta, Georgia.
