After notching four conference championships in four years, Dana Boone is resigning as head coach for the Texas State track and field team.
Boone, a three-time conference Coach of the Year, is accepting the associate head women’s coaching job at Texas Tech.
“I would like to thank Dr. Teis and Don Coryell for the tremendous opportunity they provided to me over the last four years,” Boone said. “It was truly a pleasure to lead this program. Thanks to everyone at Texas State for their support.”
Boone parlayed her success at Texas State into a stint as head coach for the USA Track and Field World Junior Championship women’s team in 2014. The United States tied for the most medals ever under her guidance.
Athletics Director Larry Teis said the program will begin a national search for Boone’s replacement “immediately.”
“We want to thank Coach Boone for her time and effort over the past four years leading our program and we wish her luck in her new endeavor,” Teis said. “We have a first class track and field program and we are very proud of both our academic and athletic accomplishments.”
