Update 8/4/2016 12:05 p.m.

Kristian Guerrero is in fair condition, however, her unborn child has died because of injuries from the car accident, said Guerrero’s aunt, Diane Castillo in a post she made on GoFundMe.com. Castillo said doctors would be inducing labor Thursday.

A 21-year-old Texas State student was arrested Tuesday and charged with intoxication manslaughter and assault following a car crash that killed a man and injured his pregnant wife.

Shana Lee Elliot, public relations senior, was driving a Chevrolet Impala on the 1700 block of Highway 21 in San Marcos around 6 p.m. Tuesday when the fatal crash occurred.

Kristian Guerrero, a 24-year-old Bryan resident, was driving a Toyota Corolla in the opposite direction with her husband Fabian Guerrero-Moreno in the passenger seat when Elliot drove across the highway center line and collided with the Corolla.

Guerrero-Moreno died in the crash and his wife was transported to St. David’s South Austin Medical Center for treatment.

On Facebook, the couple checked in at a San Antonio restaurant hours before the crash and posted a sonogram image Monday afternoon with the caption reading: “Is this the face of a little prince or a little princess?! We can’t wait to find out Sunday! Are you team boy or team girl?! Taking bets now!”

Elliot was transported to Central Texas Medical Center for minor injuries. Elliott was subsequently arrested and charged with two felony counts.

According to a city press release, the San Marcos Police Department Collision Investigation Team is investigating the accident.
