San Marcos Police Department officers are seeking a man suspected of three instances of indecent exposure, one involving a minor, at an apartment complex.

Warrants have been issued for 18-year-old Jaykob Andrew Ruiz for indecent exposure and indecency with a child after three incidents of indecent exposure at an apartment complex on the 300 block of Champions Boulevard.

According to city press release, the first incident occurred on April 27 around 9 p.m. A woman was in the apartment complex’s workout room when a man entered and removed his shirt. The man worked out on several machines, eventually removing all of his clothing except compression shorts. He tried several times to gain the woman’s attention and asked her to turn off the lights.

Beginning to feel uncomfortable, the woman gathered her things to leave. As she was exiting, she noticed the man was now completely nude. He put his shorts back on, followed her out and apologized for ruining her workout.

A second incident occurred on May 4 at approximately 8 p.m. when the man attempted to enter the workout room. The door was locked but a woman and teenage girl inside opened the door to allow him in. Inside the workout room, he removed all his clothing except his compression shorts.

The suspect worked out on several machines, then removed his remaining clothing. He requested the women turn off the lights and got onto a treadmill. When the women realized the man was nude and behaving inappropriately, they exited the building.

Apartment management reported both incidents to SMPD officers on May 5 after receiving a complaint through their corporate office. Management provided SMPD officers with surveillance footage.

Officers went door-to-door at the complex with still images of the suspect. They identified an additional victim and identified Ruiz as the suspect.

City officials urge residents with information concerning Ruiz’s whereabouts or anyone who may be a victim to contact SMPD officers.
