New federal legislation requires more of credit card companies targeting students

Build credit. Earn rewards. Spend freely. Dig yourself a hole of financial debt. Do all of these features sound appealing?

For years credit card companies have lured college students to venture on the dangerous path of credit spending by portraying the process as care and trouble-free.

The Credit Card Accountability, Responsibility and Disclosure Act, which will go into effect February 2010, will help protect students from making unwise financial decisions. The act will clear the vagueness credit card companies present to applicants.

Technology helps prospective students choose Texas State

What characteristics do students really look for in a college or university?

To me, choosing a college was like buying a car. I searched for one that could offer a good education, accommodate all of my interests and stay within my budget. To summarize, I wanted quality, uniqueness and practicality.

With the ever-changing world of media and means of advertising and marketing, Texas State is utilizing new tools to appeal to prospective students.

Veterans should receive more counseling opportunities

I have not been directly affected by the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, but it isn’t hard to overlook the fact that our country has been involved in each of these wars for almost a decade.

As soldiers make the transition from combat grounds to college campuses, they are immersed into a completely different environment. They are required to take on new challenges on top of those encountered when facing war.

Student commends ASG involvement on campus

I have come to notice that the Associated Student Government has been extremely active in working to pass legislation that will be beneficial for the student body. With the new semester, the Covo-Luna administration has made noteworthy attempts to improve student life.

Although they have presented some indications of shortcomings, I believe we can be proud of our student government. I urge everyone to pay attention to the organization that plays a key role in orchestrating changes on campus based on our needs and requests.

Alleged assault causes questions, concerns

Upon learning of the sexual assault incident that occurred last Monday, I was appalled and disgusted with the reality something like that happened at a time and a place where the victim, as well as other students, felt safe. The police have deemed the case inconclusive, but our campus, and our world for that matter, is not as safe as we would hope.

I believe we, as a community, must become more aware of the possible threats in our environments and we should come together and act in response to this incident.
