Founders’ Day recital ‘beautiful and moving’

Cameras flashed and reflected off two black grand pianos as 19 classical performers of Mu Phi Epsilon sang their creed.

Mu Phi Epsilon, a professional co-educational fraternity for musicians, held its Founders’ Day recital Friday in the Music Building.

Mu Phi Epsilon was founded in 1903 by Winthrop S. Sterling and Elizabeth Mathias Fuquo at the Metropolitan College of Music in Cincinnati, Ohio. Its purpose is to advance music throughout the world on the principles of friendship, music and harmony.

Writing gets personal

 

The Writing Center is rolling out new technologies this semester. Students are now able to book appointments online and utilize Bobcat Chat, an instant messaging service.

This is the first semester counselors have been able to help students without seeing them in person. Those unable to make it to campus for tutoring can log on to the Writing Center Web site and make an appointment for online help.

A Bobcat to Know: Passionate art student makes her way to fulfill dreams

When Chloé Yingst was four years old, she walked up to her mother and said, “Mom, I’m an artist.” Yingst is furthering her passion one art show at a time as a senior in college.

Yingst, double major in drawing and communication design, is a self-published author, honors student, active artist and a budding entrepreneur. Yingst wrote, illustrated and self-published a children’s book through Blurb.com for her honors program thesis.

As Renee Penner turns the Bobcat Tram into the circle drive of an apartment complex, a large group of students shuffle toward the bus to begin their journey to campus.

Penner is one of many Texas State bus drivers who take thousands of students to campus each day. Some students may not notice them.

Strategically placed ads can be found on the sidebar of your profile. There is an entire ad page devoted to shoes, music and clothing. Another thing Facebook sells is friends. The Web site Usocial.net is selling Facebook friends and fans.

Skydive San Marcos offers adrenaline rush to risk takers

Harris began skydiving in England in 2007 when a flier arrived in the mail at her work. Her first jump was for charity, but as luck would have it, she “fancied” the instructor and kept going back.

“I had a fear of heights and thought maybe I should do this to overcome it,” Harris said.
