Texas State baseball will face the University of Texas 1 p.m. Oct. 28 at UFCU Disch-Falk Field in Austin. It will be the first opportunity for Bobcat fans to check out the new baseball lineup in action and Texas State’s only fall 2012 game. The team’s schedule is expected to be released in November.


Defender of the Week

Alissa Scott was named soccer’s WAC Defender of the Week Monday by the conference. The Bobcats’ defense as a whole allowed one goal last weekend. The defensive effort was followed by getting outscored 6-0 the last two games. Scott has started 12 of the 15 games for Texas State this year and played all 180 minutes last weekend.

Support for Breast Cancer Cure

Bobcat volleyball will be holding a silent auction on the concourse level of Strahan Coliseum. The auction will run until the third set is 10 minutes in. All proceeds will go to the Central Texas Medical Center Breast Cancer Unit to better serve breast cancer patients. The Bobcats will host Seattle University Thursday, which ranks next to last in the WAC, 2-9 in conference.

Up for Grabs

Texas State cross- country will head to Ruston, La. Oct. 27 to compete in its first ever WAC Championship run. Cross-country is paced by Michelle Jones, who has led the women in the last four meets. The women will run a 5k while the men will run an 8k. It will be the first opportunity for a WAC championship of any kind for Texas State.

Tennis to host Play Day

The team will host Texas Play Date this Saturday at the Bobcat Tennis Complex. The Bobcats are coming off a singles and doubles competition in Waco, Texas. They will travel to Houston for the Cougar Classic Nov. 2-4 in the women’s final tournament of the fall. Rachel Baldree and Bérénice Van den Bergh advanced to the semifinals in the USTA/ITA Regional Tournament to lead the Bobcats last weekend.

More meets for new complex

The Bobcats will host three collegiate meets at the new Texas State Track and Field Stadium in 2013. The first of three will be March 28-29, the Bobcat Invitational. The team will host the Texas State Invitational April 5-6 and, on April 26-27, the Bobcat Classic. Texas State hosted two meets last season, along with the Southland Conference Outdoor Championships.
