Football: With their 58-31 win over the University of Nevada-Las Vegas, the Louisiana Tech University Bulldogs improved to 5-0 on the season and earned the 23rd spot in the Sunday-released Associated Press’ Top 25 poll. Louisiana Tech and UTSA are the only undefeated teams left in the WAC (both 5-0) and are two of only 15 undefeated teams remaining at the FBS level. UTSA did not receive any votes in the poll.

The University of Idaho got their first WAC and overall win last Saturday after defeating New Mexico State 26-18. Idaho comes to San Marcos this Saturday in the first of the Bobcats’ three final home games of the season. The Vandals were paced in the win over the Aggies by quarterback Dominique Blackman (26-48, 304 yards, two touchdowns, one interception).

The undefeated #23 Louisiana Tech University Bulldogs will face the SEC’s #22 Texas A&M Aggies (4-1) Saturday October 13 in Shreveport, LA. The two teams were supposed to compete on opening weekend, Sept. 1, but the game was postponed due to Hurricane Isaac. The game can be seen on ESPNU. Kickoff is at 8:00 p.m.

Volleyball: This past Thursday, the top two teams in the WAC met up for their first matchup of the season, the Utah State Aggies and the New Mexico State Aggies. Utah State convincingly earned the victory three sets to none handing New Mexico State their first conference loss of the season. Utah State’s only loss in conference was to Idaho in straight sets at home. The Vandals are currently just 7-10 on the year.

Soccer: Utah State’s soccer team has shutout their last four opponents, including UTSA and Texas State over the weekend. The Aggies kept their winning streak going – now five games. Utah State has not allowed multiple goals in a game yet in 2012 and has lossless streaks of five, four and five now on the year. Seattle University, one of three other teams that have not lost a match in WAC play this season (Louisiana Tech, the University of Denver and Utah State being the other three), is the Aggies’ next opponent.
