Jerry and Linda Fields, Texas State athletics’ biggest donors, have resigned from their positions on the Pride in Action Committee, according to a university official.

The Fieldses have been chairs of the committee since 2008. The Pride in Action campaign emphasizes donations for academics, new performing arts and alumni centers, Alkek Library and athletics, according to a University News Service press release. The Fieldses, both Southwest Texas State alumni, made the largest donation in Texas State athletics’ history in September 2009 with $6 million.

They are the namesake of Bobcat Stadium’s newest addition, the Jerry D. and Linda Gregg Fields West Side Complex. The Fieldses have donated about $9.1 million overall to the university.

Jerry Fields is a 1969 alumnus who is the founder, chair and chief executive officer of Houston-based J.D. Fields & Co., a steel products supplier. Linda Fields is a 1966  alumna from San Marcos.

A spokesperson from the Texas State Alumni Association could not be reached for comment.
