Starting Jan. 15, San Marcos will have a new Director of Planning and Development Services.

Shannon S. Mattingly, who formerly served as the Director of Planning and Community Development for the city of New Braunfels, will serve the San Marcos area. Mattingly will direct Planning, Building Inspections and Permits, the Community Development Block Grant Program and the Main Street Program.

“Shannon has a proven track record of leadership and success in planning in the Central Texas area,” said City Manager Jared Miller. “We welcome her experience and knowledge of the challenges and opportunities unique to our region and especially to the City of San Marcos.”

Mattingly oversaw the management of the city’s growth, land use, transportation, permits and inspections along with the Environmental Services Division, which includes Code Enforcement, Health and Animal Control, while in New Braunfels.

“I look forward to joining the excellent team at the City of San Marcos,” Mattingly said. “I believe that my experience in fast-growing communities will be an asset to the city.”
