Tyler Jones, sophomore quarterback, was named the Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Week. Jones completed 21 of 25 passes for a career-high 278 yards and four total touchdowns in the Bobcats' 65-0 victory against the Arkansas-Pine Bluff Golden Lions. Jones' 95.1 adjusted quarterback rating ranked second in Division I college football, behind New Mexico's Cole Gautsche.
Texas State scored on their first eight offensive possessions, with seven touchdowns, before Connor White, freshman quarterback, replaced Jones in the third quarter.
The Bobcats are first in points scored per game and fifth in total yards per game, as they set a new school record with 697 total yards in the win. The Bobcats' offensive output was the fifth-highest total in Sun Belt Conference history.
Texas State's next opponent is Navy on Sept. 13.
