Live updates: Football sets school record in season opener

Texas State defeated the Arkansas-Pine Bluff Golden Lions, 65-0, in its home opener. The Bobcats set a school record with 697 total yards in the game. Coach Dennis Franchione is 5-1 all-time in season openers with Texas State

3rd quarter: Texas State leads Arkansas-Pine Bluff, 51-0, after three quarters. The Bobcats scored on two of the three drives in the quarter, with Jason Dann's, senior kicker, 31-yard field goal capping a 10 play, 55-yard drive. 

Robert Lowe's, junior running back, 51-yard run set up a four-yard touchdown for Terrance Franks, senior running back, with 7:43 remaining in the quarter. Lowe has a team-high 150 rushing yards on 14 carries through three quarters. 

Connor White, freshman quarterback, replaced Tyler Jones, sophomore quarterback, on the team's second possession of the quarter. Jones finished with 334 total yards and four touchdowns in seven offensive possessions. White, with the Bobcats at Arkansas-Pine Bluff's two-yard line, fumbled the ball for a touchback.

2nd quarter: Texas State leads 42-0 against Arkansas-Pine Bluff at halftime. The Bobcats, scoring on all six offensive possessions in the half, have matched last season's high with 42 points.

The team's first drive of the quarter -- a nine play, 79-yard drive -- concluded with a 16-yard touchdown reception from Terrance Franks, senior running back.

The Bobcats drove 80 yards in two plays for the team's fourth touchdown. Jones' 71-yard completion to Jafus Gaines, junior wide receiver, gave the Bobcats a first-and-goal at Arkansas-Pine Bluff's nine-yard line. Lowe converted the nine-yard touchdown on the ensuing play.

Texas State followed Arkansas-Pine Bluff's punt with a 11 play, 80-yard touchdown drive. Demun Mercer, freshman wide receiver, recorded his first career touchdown reception with 2:44 remaining in the quarter. 

David Mayo, senior linebacker, forced a fumble, setting up a four play, 42-yard touchdown drive concluding with Jones' second touchdown to Gaines. Gaines has four receptions, 119 yards and two touchdowns in the half. 

Jones has completed 19 of 22 passes in the half, with four touchdowns and 266 yards. Jones is also leading the team with 51 rushing yards on six carries. The Bobcats have 411 total yards, outgaining Arkansas-Pine Bluff by 258 total yards in the half.

1st quarter: Texas State leads 14-0 against Arkansas-Pine Bluff in its home opener. The Bobcats scored on both offensive possessions in the fourth -- a six play, 43-yard touchdown drive concluding with 11:46 remaining and a eight-play, 73-yard drive concluding with 1:28 remaining.

C.J. Best, junior wide receiver, scored on a 17-yard run capping the team's first drive. Jones completed a 11-yard pass to Gaines for the team's second touchdown.

Texas State converted eight first downs, with 130 total yards. Arkansas-Pine Bluff finished with 63 total yards on 20 plays in the quarter. 

Jones completed six of seven passes for 66 yards and one touchdown. Mayo leads the team with four tackles.
