Volleyball loses first all-time matchup against Wake Forest

The Texas State volleyball team lost in four sets to the Wake Forest Demon Deacons in its second game of the Cougar Classic. The matchup was the first matchup between the teams in school history.

Wake Forest and Texas State split the first two sets, before the Demon Deacons won the third and fourth sets by a combined seven points.

Shelby Vas Matt, sophomore outside hitter, Keeley Davis, sophomore outside hitter, and Alexandra Simms, senior outside hitter, combined for 34 of the team’s 48 kills in the match.

Jordan Moore, sophomore setter, had a game-high 43 assists and a team-high 15 digs in the loss.

Texas State, 1-1 overall, will play the Houston Cougars in the final game of the Cougar Classic Saturday at 11 a.m.
