The Texas State volleyball team defeated the Lamar Cardinals, 3-2, in its first game of the season.
The Bobcats outscored the Cardinals by six points in the match and eight points in the final two sets, after the team lost two of the first three sets.
Texas State has won four of their last five games, dating back to last season.
Lauren Kirch, freshman blocker, led the team with 18.5 kills and 14 kills, while accounting for eight digs, three services aces and three service errors. The Bobcats, with 116 total points in the match, had five players with double-digit points.
Ali Gonzales, senior setter, and Jordan Moore, sophomore setter, accounted for 54 of the team's 67 assists. Texas State converted 16.9 percent of their attempts, while Lamar finished with a 20.8 hitting percentage.
Texas State's next opponent in the Houston Cougar Classic is Wake Forest at 2 p.m.
