San Marcos Police are currently searching for a suspect who allegedly attempted to sexually assault a child Thursday.

The incident occurred in the 900 block of Sycamore Street in San Marcos. A 12-year-old girl was outside of her house walking a dog when she was approached by a male described as being between 5 feet 9 inches and 5 feet 11 inches. He was described as having a “thin but fit” build and no facial hair. He is suspected to have a crew cut style haircut with a middle part, colored brown on one side and blonde on the other. He was wearing light colored shorts, a dark shirt and a black leather jacket.

The suspect grabbed the victim, forced her into a backyard while fondling her breasts, according to Sgt. Mike Wellman of the San Marcos Police Department. Police say the suspect asked the girl to perform oral sex on him.

An adult family member went outside to check on the girl and found her with the suspect. He fled the scene after the family member yelled at the suspect.
