Garrett Mattlage, junior shortstop, Tyler Pearson, senior catcher, and Taylor Black, junior pitcher, were all selected on the final day of the MLB Draft.
Mattlage, the 12th round selection by the Detroit Tigers (370th overall), led the Bobcats in batting average, runs, hits, walks, total bases and on-base plus slugging percentage last season. Mattlage was drafted out of high school, but committed to Texas State for three years.
The Chicago Cubs selected Pearson with their 25th round selection, 739th overall. Pearson started in 54 of 58 possible games last season. He threw out a conference-high 25 runners on the bases.
Black, the Colorado Rockies' 26th round selection (773rd overall), pitched a team-high 101 innings, allowing 2.85 runs per nine innings.
Overall, 51 Bobcats have been selected in the MLB Draft in school history, including 36 under Coach Ty Harrington.
