Baseball defeats Louisiana-Monroe, advances in tournament

The Texas State baseball team defeated Louisiana-Monroe 4-2 Friday to advance to the semifinals of the Sun Belt tournament. 
The game was scoreless until Tanner Hill, sophomore third baseman, hit a 2-run home run in the sixth inning.
The Bobcats followed the 2-run sixth inning with two solo homeruns. Cory Geisler, sophomore center fielder, hit a home run in the seventh inning, followed by Austin O’Neal, senior first baseman, in the eighth inning. 
Junior Austen Williams pitched eight innings, allowed two earned runs and struck out seven. Hunter Lemke, senior pitcher, earned his 11th save of the season.
Texas State will play first-seeded Louisiana Saturday at 9 a.m. in the semifinals for the second time in the tournament. The Bobcats were defeated by the Ragin' Cajuns Thursday in the second round. The Bobcats must defeat Louisiana two consecutive times to advance to the championship.
