The UT-Arlington Mavericks defeated the Texas State baseball team 1-0 in the second matchup of the three-game series.
Texas State failed to score a run for the third time this season.
Mavericks catcher Greg McCall's single in the bottom of the eighth inning scored the only run of the game. In the top of the ninth inning, the Mavericks retired three consecutive Bobcats to earn the win. Mavericks pitcher Chase Weaver picked up his fourth win of the season with 1.2 innings pitched and zero earned runs.
Four of the Bobcats' nine starters didn't record a hit in the game.
Texas State's final game of the season is tomorrow against the Mavericks. The Bobcats are fourth in the Sun Belt conference with a 16-13 record. They can clinch the fourth seed in the Sun Belt postseason tournament with a win tomorrow.
