Baseball moves to second place in Sun Belt Conference

Texas State took possession of second place in the Sun Belt Conference as it swept the Troy Trojans with a 6-2 victory Sunday.
The Bobcats won the first two games of the series by seven runs.
In the third game, the team scored 3 runs on three hits in the first inning to take an early 3-0 lead.
Troy closed the gap in the top of the seventh inning to make the score 4-2, but Texas State matched with 2 runs in the bottom of the seventh. The Bobcats scored on a sacrifice fly by Granger Studdard, freshman left fielder, and a run batted in by Trey Hicks, freshman third baseman.
Sophomore Lucas Humpal pitched six innings and struck out eight batters while allowing five hits and 2 runs. Dylan Bein, freshman pitcher, replaced the right-hander in the seventh inning. Bein earned the save, allowing two hits and zero earned runs in three innings.
Texas State improves to 15-9 in the conference and 27-21 overall on the season. The team's next series is against Arkansas-Little Rock.
