The Texas State softball team swept Saturday's afternoon doubleheader against the UT-Arlington Mavericks. The Bobcats never trailed in either game, outscoring the Mavericks by 11 runs.
The Bobcats improved to 25-29 overall and 8-12 in the conference.
In game one, Rayn House, senior pitcher, pitched a complete game to earn the Bobcats' 5-2 win. House, in her 21st victory of the season, finished with one earned run, six hits and nine strikeouts.
Texas State scored 3 runs in the bottom of the first off a leadoff home run by Kellie Baker, sophomore infielder.
The team the followed the home run with two doubles from Coralee Ramirez, senior outfielder, and Kendall Wiley, sophomore infielder.
Baker went 3-4 in the game, tallying two runs batted in and one run scored.
Ramirez and Wiley both recorded multi hit games along with an RBI apiece to support the 5 runs scored in the game. The Bobcats out-hit the Mavericks nine to six.
The Bobcats were led by Ashley Wright, sophomore pitcher. Wright earned her first complete game of the season, allowing one earned run in the Bobcats' 9-1 victory.
Baker followed a 3-4 game one with a 3-3 game, scoring 3 runs and one run batted in to earn her 13th multi-hit game this season. Baker finished the two-game series hitting 6-7, with three runs batted in and 4 runs scored.
Courtney Harris, junior infielder, finished 2-4 with three runs batted in and two doubles.
Kourtney Koroll, junior designated player, hit 1-3, with two runs batted in to give the Bobcats an early lead in the bottom of the first.
The team out-hit the Mavericks 13 to 3 with three players recording multi-hit games.
The Bobcats will wrap up the three-game series tomorrow. The team will honor its senior class in the last home game of the season.
