Suspect arrested after standoff with SWAT team

4:45 p.m. update:

San Marcos Police have identified the suspect arrested this afternoon by the Hays County-San Marcos SWAT team as Reggie David Vine, 32, of Canyon Lake.
 
Vine was charged with a probation violation on an original charge of felony evading arrest or detention out of Tarrant County, and criminal mischief under $20,000 for damage to the hotel rooms in San Marcos, according to a press release from the City of San Marcos.

2:30 p.m. update: 

A SWAT standoff at Comfort Suites has ended. 

The Hays County-San Marcos SWAT team made entry into a hotel room at Comfort Suites on 104 IH-35 North shortly after 1 p.m. to extract a man who had barricaded himself in a room. Negotiators had been in contact with the individual for several hours, according to a press release from the City of San Marcos. The decision to force entry was made after the individual broke off all contact with negotiators.
 
The suspect has been detained for felony warrants. Police did not release his identity pending magistration, according to the press release.

Police responded to a call from hotel management reporting an unruly guest at 8 a.m. The Hotel staff reported the man had caused extensive damage to a room in the hotel. Upon arrival, police officers encountered the man, who had barricaded himself into a different room.
 
The SWAT team and Hays County Crisis Negotiation Team were called at 9:31 a.m. The hotel was evacuated and adjacent businesses were notified, according to the press release.
 
Ammunition was found in the damaged room, but it is unknown if the man was armed, the press release states. The suspect suffered minor injuries during the encounter and is being transported to the Hays County Law Enforcement Center.

2:10 p.m. update:

The suspect in the San Marcos SWAT standoff is in custody. Police will give an official statement shortly.

1:15 p.m.: A standoff between a San Marcos hotel guest and the Hays County SWAT team is ongoing.

Staff members at the Comfort Suites Hotel on Interstate Highway 35 called San Marcos police around 8 a.m. for help dealing with a troublesome guest,  city spokesman Trey Hatt told the Austin American-Statesman. The SWAT team was called to assist. The Hays County Crisis Negotiation Team is also on scene, Hatt told the Statesman. City spokeswoman Melissa Millecam had no further updates as of 1 p.m.

No roads have been closed and nearby businesses remain open.
