The Bobcats dropped the final game of the series against Louisiana-Monroe 7-6 to bring their season record to 19-16 and 8-7 in the Sun Belt Conference.
Lucas Humpal, sophomore pitcher, got the final start of the series and threw for 5.2 innings, struck out four batters and allowed eight hits and 7 runs with 4 earned.
The two teams were scoreless through the first two innings unlike Saturday night’s game. Colby Targun, junior outfielder, and Garrett Mattlage, junior infielder, drove in two runs in the top of the third to give Texas State the early 2-0 lead.
The Warhawks and Bobcats were back and forth in the middle innings with Texas State scoring a run in the fourth and 3 runs in the fifth. Louisiana-Monroe matched the score and then some, adding 3 runs in the fourth inning and 4 in the bottom of the sixth.
The Bobcats will travel to UTSA Tuesday before hosting Georgia State in another Sun Belt series over Easter weekend.
