Triumphant moment for women's golf
The Texas State women’s golf team took home its third consecutive Claud Jacobs Intercollegiate title Monday in Victoria.
The team posted a 912 total, defeating Kansas for the top spot by eight strokes. Krista Puisite, management sophomore, won the individual competition in a playoff round against Tulsa’s Kamryn Ruffin by one stroke. The victory marked Puisite’s first individual win as a Bobcat. She had the lowest score for the team with 74, while Caitlin Bliss, exercise and sports science senior, posted the second lowest with 75. Bliss tied for seventh in individual competition, and Mara Puisite, computer information systems freshman, finished in 10th place.
The Bobcats’ total score is the lowest of the last three years, with the team posting a 913 in 2010 and a 920 the year prior.
Texas State is back in action Feb. 27 to Feb. 28 in Miami, Fla. at the Sir Pizza Cards Challenge.
