SCARVES are a must this fall.
Warm colors with a splash of edge are what to look out for this fall. Pieces of maroon, gold-yellow, brown and forest green will do well to bring in the new season. Whether you feel like dressing chic or wearing clothes for comfort, a scarf is a must to complete your ensemble. Wear scarves that add a color contrast to your outfit to add more character and style. And don’t forget, a messy hairdo will add a flirty touch!
What I am looking forward to
It’s official: the long months of multiple summer blockbusters are gone and in come the epic films.
As an avid movie attendee the amount of time, money and excitement wasted over the plethora of films claiming to be the most “epic motion picture of the year” has me a bit discouraged.
But all of that negativity took a toll when I realized that we can always count on trusty Leo to take us out of the dim-witted state of special effects coma that are all thanks to Michael Bay.
An Equalizing Disease
Cancer is an equalizing disease. It does not care about your race, if you are male or female, rich or poor. Many of us have felt the impact of this deadly disease, whether it is directly through someone we know personally or through the loss of a public icon. There are several varieties of cancer, none less life changing than the other. However, there are things you can do in your life right now to help reduce the risk of cancer.
Understanding "Weather Wednesday"
As the author of “Weather Wednesday,” I try to make the forecast as clear, comprehensive, and accurate as possible. It is for those reasons that I do not use percentages while forecasting the week ahead. Instead I use the words; stray, isolated, scattered, and numerous. The reason I have chosen these key words is because I feel like sometimes people may misinterpret percentages. Meteorologists use percentages in terms of coverage, not the chances YOU will see rain. For example, I am from the Corpus Christi area and a few years ago in April we had a 30% chance of rain… ultimately meaning that 30% of the area would likely see rain. Doesn’t seem very likely, right? Well on that day, we saw more rain than we did any other day throughout that year, 4.25.” That being said, I feel like using key words rather than numerical values does the forecast more justice and gives the audience a better understanding of the weather.
Rain Chances Increase for the Weekend:
Anytime is a Good Time
It is hard for anyone to maintain a busy work or school schedule, and trying to add exercising and eating right makes your week suddenly look like an impossible task. We all know that when we get super busy the first thing out the window is that pledge you made to yourself about losing weight. It does not have to be that way.
Running With Food: Intro to Blog.
People have tried almost everything in pursuit of weight loss, from falling victim to a celebrity diet to believing old exercise myths. All exercises and diets work to some extent because you’re increasing the amount of calories burned or restricting your food intake.
A hopping good time
Any holiday with legitimate traditions is bound to have a stream of films made about or around it, especially if it involves an iconic figure to appease the children. This season’s example is “Hop,” Universal Pictures’ partially-animated twist on the tale of the Easter Bunny.
Water for Elephants
"Water for Elephants,” by Sara Gruen, tells the story of a young man, Jacob Jankowski, who runs away from home and jumps on a circus train after his parents die in a car accident.
The book is told in two different time periods that switch back and forth throughout the novel – the presumable present and during the Great Depression.
This is college dorm life
I recently signed my first apartment lease. I have to be honest; I’m pretty scared to live outside of the “Texas State Bubble.” I’ve lived in dorms for two and a half years at Texas State, hoping that one day an English exchange student would move in next door like in the short-lived television series, “Undeclared.”
Magnetic Man: Dubstep super group
Dubstep group Magnetic Man is tearing up the United Kingdom electronic-dance music scene. The group consists of three dubstep producers and DJ’s – Benga, Skream and Artwork. The U.K. possesses the heart of dubstep and is where the music genre first originated. Thus, Magnetic Man is “dupstep gold.”
