Hays County reports 77 new COVID-19 cases

Hays County COVID-19 update

The Hays County Local Health Department reports 77 new lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 44 recoveries Jan. 22, bringing the total number of cases in the county to 13,915, total active cases to 2,697 and recoveries to 11,047. The county reports the total active cases in the past 21 days is 3,397.

San Marcos, Kyle and Buda have 845, 851 and 541 active cases, respectively.

According to Epidemiologist Eric Schneider, the total number of received negative tests in the county is now 96,893. The total number of hospitalizations is 617 and total current hospitalizations is 43 after six people were hospitalized and seven were discharged. The total number of fatalities in the county is 171.

Note: Cases were removed from both total number of lab-confirmed and total hospitalizations during a HCLHD data audit. Cases are removed when confirmed as duplicates or noted as out of county.
