The City of San Marcos is currently seeking nominations for outstanding local women to induct into the San Marcos Women’s Hall of Fame ceremony in October.
According to a August 1 press release, criteria for the selection process will include volunteerism, meeting the needs of the community, demonstration of initiative, influencing positive change and going beyond the call of duty.
The San Marcos Women’s Hall of Fame began was started in 1984 with the purpose of honoring women for their volunteerism and leadership in the community. Since then, 129 local women have been inducted into the Hall of Fame.
The City of San Marcos, coordinated by the City Clerk’s Office, will host the 2016 Annual Women’s Hall of Fame Reception on Thursday, October 6 at 6 p.m. at the City of San Marcos Activity Center. The reception will honor women who have made meaningful contributions to the San Marcos community through personal achievement and community service.
A special committee of former Hall of Fame recipients will review the nominations and select the honorees.
The deadline for submitting nominations is August 19 by 5 p.m. Entry forms are available at the City Clerk’s Office or online at www.sanmarcostx.gov/fame. Residents can submit their nominations to the City Clerk’s office or they can be emailed to Tammy Cook, deputy city clerk, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
