Summer is here. This means no more stressful exams, long essays and boring projects to worry about. Instead, you have more time to take care of yourself.

To recover from all the junk food eaten during the semester, many people use summer vacation as a way to get back into shape.

One popular food trend at the moment is green smoothies.

When made properly, the nutritious drinks can be used as a meal replacement.

They contain a good source of vegetables and fruits, and are great when you’re on the go.

However, including the smoothies in your diet can rack up a pretty expensive bill at the local store. Often, premade juices are jam-packed with sugar and are not healthy at all.

It is better to make your own homemade smoothies.

Try these easy-to-make, affordable and tasty green smoothie recipes:

Beginners Green Smoothie

If you’re not into a full-on green smoothie or don’t like the taste of vegetables and fruits mixed together, this recipe is perfect if you just want to test the waters.

  • Orange Juice
  • Greek Yogurt
  • Sliced Kiwi
  • 1 Avocado
  • Spinach or Kale

  1. First, fill the blender with ½ cup of orange juice.
  2. Add ½ cup of Greek yogurt. If you want to mask the taste of the greens, add a vanilla-flavored Greek yogurt.
  3. Peel and slice 2 small kiwis and add it to the blender.
  4. Add an entire peeled and sliced avocado. This will add a creamy texture to the smoothie.
  5. Top it off with a handful of greens such as spinach or kale.
  6. Blend until you get the desired consistency. Usually around 30 seconds.

Meal Replacement Smoothie

If you are wanting to use the green smoothie as a way to replace your Chick-Fil-A sandwich and fries, the following drink is a great alternative to make your lifestyle healthier.

  • Protein Powder
  • Banana
  • Pineapple
  • Kale or Spinach
  • Water

  1. Add a protein powder of your choice. There are many powders you can use, so do some research and find the perfect one for you.
  2. Add half a banana and a handful of sliced pineapples to the blender.
  3. For the greens, you can add spinach or kale. If you are feeling brave, you can add both to the smoothie.
  4. Add ½ cup of water to the top and start blending away.

Weight Loss and Energy Smoothie

If you are looking for a smoothie to help you lose weight and gain more energy, this is the green drink for you.

  • Protein Powder
  • Blueberries
  • Strawberries
  • Kale or Spinach
  • Chia, Flax and Raw Hemp seeds
  • Coconut Water

  1. Start with a protein powder of your choice.
  2. Add a handful of blueberries and strawberries.
  3. Fill the blender with a handful of kale or spinach.
  4. Sprinkle chia and flax seeds. Hemp seeds are a great source of fiber, but they can get pricey, so it is okay to exclude them from the recipe.
  5. Add coconut water for more flavor.

  1. Losing weight is 80% diet and 20% fat, there’s no point in doing hours and hours of cardio and weight training if you’re still eating junk food, because you will not lose any weight, sure you may get fitter but you won’t lose any fat.

Also, if you can’t fit 30 minutes of cardio in a day, 7 minutes will do the trick tremendously, well that’s only if you’re doing 7 minutes of HIIT (High Intensity).

Do at least a 20 second sprint then a 20 second run, alternate for 7 minutes, everyday, you will feel great and revitalized after.

Be careful in which guides you follow, there are TONS of fad diets and lies. Here’s a great weight loss program I used to lose weight and permanently keep it off: http://thehealthspecialists.com
