Matt Perry: How did you get into basketball?
D’Angelo West: I started playing at a young age; I grew up around it. My older brother played it and I really wanted to be like him.
MP: How old were you when you first started to play basketball?
DW: I started playing ball when I was 6-years-old.
MP: Who’s your biggest inspiration?
DW: My mom and my brother for sure.
MP: What made you choose Texas State?
DW: I felt like this is a good program, I like what Coach Kaspar is doing with the program and I like the campus. I just feel like this is a good environment for me to be in.
MP: Who is your favorite athlete?
DW: Brandon Jennings, because I feel like I can relate to him, and I grew up watching him.
MP: What is your dream job?
DW: To play professional basketball.
MP: What other activities do you enjoy doing besides playing basketball?
DW: I used to play football, and play 2K, but other than that I don’t really do anything.
MP: What is your biggest fear?
DW: Losing my mom and my brother.
MP: What is your favorite food?
DW: A cheeseburger with mayonnaise and mustard, that’s it.
MP: What’s the furthest that you have traveled from home?
DW: Washington state, where we had a basketball game.
MP: Who are you closest with on the team?
DW: I say (Cameron Naylor), because he kind of took me under his wing. He gave me knowledge and he doesn’t have to do the stuff that he does for me, but I appreciate him for that.
MP: Do you have any siblings?
DW: I have three brothers: one older, and two younger.
MP: Who’s your favorite pro sports team?
DW: I was a Seahawks fan until Marshawn Lynch retired, but I like the Miami Heat.
MP: What is your dream vacation spot?
DW: If not Hawaii, then definitely the Bahamas.
MP: Where are you from?
DW: Jackson, Mississippi.
