The comprehensive 76-53 victory for the Bobcats gives them a 3-1 record on the year. The win over the Roadrunners makes the series record 24-33.

Texas State went on a 10-0 run to finish off the first half. The run from the Bobcats extended their first half lead to 18 points. Kavin Gilder-Tilbury nailed a three pointer with seven seconds remaining in the first half to finish off the run. The Roadrunners couldn’t mount a comeback as they were playing from behind most of the game.

Gant’s presence down low.

The Bobcats offense got going in the second half. Their strategy: feed Emani Gant. The senior forward enjoyed success; he finished with 16 points on 6-of-12 shooting. In addition, Anthony Roberson added 10 points with six rebounds. Gilder-Tilbury put in another impressive shift finishing with 15 points and six assists.

Defensively, senior guard Ethan Montalvo led the Bobcats as he collected eight steals—tying a Bobcats’ record. Montalvo used his anticipation to position himself and it led to steal after steal. Anthony Roberson got the start and made the most of it. Roberson started with two put backs to give the Bobcats an early 4-2 lead. Roberson’s ability to rebound the ball showed, as he was the first man to multiple 50-50 balls.

Offense. The Bobcats played an efficient game shooting 45% from the floor. After a slow start, the offense got rolling with a 10-0 run to finish the first half. Things didn’t slow down for the Bobcats and opened the second half on an 8-0 run to extend the lead to 26.

Missed easy opportunities. There were a couple chances for close range put backs but the Bobcats couldn’t convert. Coach Danny Kaspar alluded to the fact that the team left 15 to 20 points out on the floor.

Not much. The Bobcats played a collective game. Kaspar said he was pleased with the way the team played defense. The Bobcats weren’t troubled as they held a double-digit advantage throughout the game.

The team is scheduled to play at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Saturday, Dec. 5. The Islanders are 5-2 this season with losses to Texas and Texas A&M.
