WHAT THE WIN MEANS

With the blowout victory, the Bobcats got their season off to the right start against UT Tyler. The win puts the Bobcats at 1-0. Kavin Gilder-Tilbury, junior forward, led the way for the Bobcats with 15 points and 8 rebounds.

TURNING POINT

From the opening tip-off, the Bobcats overmatched the Patriots with their sheer physicality. Gilder-Tilbury set the tone with an early bucket and a slam-dunk on the following possession. The slam from Gilder-Tilbury encapsulated the game as the Bobcats held the obvious size advantage.

STORYLINE FROM THE GAME

Emani Gant, senior forward, did not play in the first game. Without Gant, the Bobcats were forced to make adjustments inside. Kendell Ramlal, junior forward, and Maljhum McCrea, junior forward, filled in nicely as McCrea finished with 11 points. Luckily for the Bobcats, Gant’s absence didn’t affect their ability to score as they opened the game on a 22-2 run.

SPOTLIGHT PLAYER

Gilder-Tilbury got off to a hot start with two early buckets. Tilbury carried that momentum and kept the Bobcats’ offense rolling throughout the game. His hot start elevated the Bobcats to a blowout victory as he finished with 15 points.

GOOD

Offense. The offense was clicking early and often. Tilbury and McCrea combined for 26 points. Ojai Black, junior guard, guided the Bobcats efficiently with his distribution of the ball.

BAD

Not much. Aside from a few minor things Coach Danny Kaspar will want to clean up, the team played a thorough basketball game.

WHAT’S NEXT

The Bobcats continue their 1-0 season Nov. 21 against UTEP.
