For the literature enthusiast
The department of English will kick off their MFA Student Reading Series on Sept. 1 from 5 p.m.-6 p.m. Students and faculty can enjoy light refreshments while listening to graduate students in the MFA Creative Writing Program recite some of their nonfiction, fiction and poetry pieces.
For the traveler
The Study Abroad Office will host a general information session Sept. 2 from 3 p.m.-4 p.m. for students looking to explore their travel options. During this time, those interested in studying abroad can learn about different programs, financial aid and the application process. The event will take place in the Thornton International House conference room.
For the new student
Retention Management and Planning will host a Welcome Back Social for students at Sewell Park Sep. 3 from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. The event is a great opportunity for freshmen and transfer students to meet new people and learn more about campus resources. The get-together is free and open to students of any classification.
For the volleyball fan
The Texas State volleyball team will kick off the start of their season at home during the Delta Zeta Classic Tournament. The Bobcats will face the University of Texas at San Antonio, Prairie View A&M, Lamar University, Oregon and Indiana from Sept. 3 to Sept. 5 at Strahan Coliseum. For the volunteer
Texas State Community Relations, the St. Bernard Project and United Way of Hays County are hosting Project Flood Relief Sept. 5 from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. to help rebuild homes damaged by the Memorial Day weekend flood. Lunch, water and community service documentation will be provided to volunteers. Those interested in attending are asked to RSVP to email@example.com.
