After earning a second consecutive postseason berth in 2014, Coach Zenarae Antoine signed a contract extension to remain with Texas State through the 2017-18 season.
Antoine has won 60 of 125 games in four seasons leading the Texas State women’s basketball team, including two winning seasons in that span. The Bobcats are 23-15 against the Sun Belt Conference during her tenure.
“Texas State feels like home,” Antoine said. “It felt like home the day I interviewed and it feels even more comfortable now that my family and I are established in the community.”
Texas State won a combined 16 games in the two seasons before Antoine was hired in 2011. Antoine exceeded that total in her first season by coaching the team to a 17-14 record – an improvement of seven wins from 2010.
Entering the 2015 season, Antoine’s teams have advanced to the semifinals of the Sun Belt Conference tournament in two consecutive seasons.
Texas State participated in the Women’s Basketball Invitational for a second straight season after being eliminated from the conference tournament.
“As the program continues to grow with new staff members and a competitive recruiting class, the future of this program is bright,” said Athletics Director Larry Teis. “Coach Antoine is without a doubt the right coach to continue leading our program as we move forward.”
