The City of San Marcos is returning to Stage 1 drought restrictions after they were lifted June 7 because of the above-average rainfall.
Increasing drought restrictions were eased with several flash floods that surged through Hays County during Memorial Day weekend. The Edwards Aquifer Authority returned to Stage 1 conditions due to dropping aquifer levels.
According to Stage 1 rules, restrictions are enforced when the 10-day average index well level of the Edwards Aquifer falls below 660 feet above the mean sea level.
