The Supreme Court, in a 5-4 vote, overturned each state ban on same-sex marriage June 26 leaving the country looking a little rainbow.

JUNE 29 UPDATE: Same-sex couples can now be issued a marriage license from the Hays County Clerk’s Office. Gender neutral forms are still not available.

June 26: Same-sex couples can now finally have their “I do’s” recognized by law, after love won in a Supreme Court decision yesterday.

The Hays County Clerk’s Office is not yet issuing same-sex marriage licenses despite the landmark June 26 Supreme Court’s decision to overturn state bans on gay marriage.

The Hays County Clerk’s Office is citing technical reasons for delaying the issue of same-sex marriage licenses. The office does not yet have the necessary change in marriage forms to issue gay marriage licenses, said a Hays County deputy clerk.

“The forms still say man and woman on them,” the deputy clerk said.

Electronic forms and other technicalities will need to be updated before licenses can be issued, the deputy clerk said.

The office is seeking legal counsel before proceeding with any action, the deputy clerk said.

Travis County has issued at least 300 same-sex marriage licenses. Bexar County has issued at least 100 licenses after the decision was made.
