The San Marcos Police Department is investigating an early morning shooting that left one man dead and two others seriously injured near River Road.
Police responded to a call at 2:13 a.m. that a person had been shot in the head, according to a city press release. The caller said three men, dressed in black, arrived at the home, shots were fired and then all suspects drove away.
Four men have been taken into custody after police stopped a silver Toyota Avalon and found a handgun in the vehicle.
The body of Joel Espino, 21, was found at the home with a gunshot wound. A stolen rifle was also found in the home.
A little while later, two men with gunshots wounds arrived at the Central Texas Medical Center. One was transferred to Brackenridge Hospital in Austin and the other was released with a wounded shoulder.
Police believe the incident may have started as an attempted robbery and the residence is known as a drug location, according to the release.
The residence is being considered an active crmie scene while suspects, witnesses and victims are interviewed. There is no ongoing danger to the public.
