Whataburger gives back after floods

Starting this week, flood first responders will be rewarded with something only a Texan could appreciate—Whataburger.

Uniformed first responders in the New Braunfels, San Marcos and Kyle areas will receive a free Whataburger meal starting May 26 through June 9 for their efforts in the May 24 flash flood that left three people dead and 11 missing.

“Our company is very grounded in its thinking,” said Peter Binder, area manager. “Whataburger is very community driven. It is family-oriented, people-oriented. It does a good job making sure we care about our people and the community.”

In addition to the promotion, Whataburger donated $100,000 to the Red Cross to aid in flood relief efforts.

“We are trying to take care of people,” said Ricky Chridoga, manager. “We are looking out for each other with whatever they need.”
