Eight bodies recovered, five remain missing from Memorial Day floods

Hays County residents can now apply for federal aid after President Barack Obama declared Texas a disaster.

Eight bodies have been recovered from the Hays County floods. Rescue teams are still searching for the remaining five people.

Two unidentified adult female bodies were found along the Blanco River and were sent for an autopsy. One adult male body is awaiting identification.

Ralph Hugh Carey, 73, was the latest body discovered by rescue teams near Fox Road in San Marcos. Carey’s wife, Sue McNeil Carey, 71, is among the six people still missing.

William Randal Charba, 42, and Kenneth Reissig, 81, are still missing.

Carey was vacationing with two other families in Wimberley when the flood lifted the house from it’s foundation.

Carey’s daughter, Michelle Carey-Charba, 43, was found dead earlier this week. Her body was discovered near Cemetery Road, in Martindale. Michelle Carey’s 6-year-old son, William remains missing.

Jonathan McComb identified a boy’s body found on Wednesday as his 6-year-old son, Andrew McComb. Jonathan was released from a San Antonio hospital earlier this week for injuries.

Jonathan’s wife, Laura Schultz McComb, 34, and his daughter Leighton McComb, 4, remain missing.

Dayton Larry Thomas, 74, and Jose Alvaro Arteaga-Pichardo, 29, were both found deceased earlier this week.
