Hays County commissioners approved measures to streamline the process of providing relief to flood victims during an emergency meeting Friday morning.
Commissioners voted unanimously to streamline the permitting process for flood victims rebuilding their homes and to waive fees for dropping off debris at deposit sites. Commissioners voted to accommodate the county budget to purchase a CAT 272D Skid Steer Loader to help remove debris.
Hays County Judge Bert Cobb asked the public to take debris to the designated deposit sites and not burn piles in unauthorized areas.
The CAT 272D Skid Steer Loader is estimated to cost $54,000.
“This is the third flood of a lifetime in the last 30 years,” said Commissioner Mark Jones, Precint 2. “We’ll probably have to use it again.”
